Beginners Foundation Course

Beginners Foundation Course (all ages):

This course covers all the training essentials using fun, reward based training.  It is suitable for those looking to improve their dog's current training as well as those just starting out.  The course covers the following exercises in a distracting, but controlled environment:

  • sit

  • lie down

  • walk nicely on a lead

  • walk beside you off the lead (if appropriate)

  • stay

  • leave (come away from food, toys, other dogs, rabbits, joggers etc)

  • recall away from distractions

  • respond to you at a distance

What you can expect from our Beginners class:

  • To learn as part of a small class and get lots of individual attention

  • To gain a understanding of how your dog learns and how best to train him/her

  • To improve your relationship with your dog and end up with a dog who wants to work with you

  • To learn how to live with your dog at home and how to establish some all important ground rules

  • To have the opportunity to resolve your dog's training problems

  • To meet other dog owners and share experiences

My dog already knows some of the basics, is this class suitable?

Yes, even if your dog already knows some of the exercises, this is still the most suitable class for him/her.  We tailor the training to suit each individual dog, so if your dog find something easy we can make the training harder.  Once a dog is responding well, we start to add distractions to make the training more realistic.  Once you have completed a beginners course then you can move onto our intermediate course to improve your dog's training further.

Who can come?

All members of the family, including children, are welcome to attend and take part in your dog's training

My dog is aggressive to other dogs and I'd like to socialise him, can we come?

No.  For the sake of your own dog and all the other dogs in the class, we cannot accept aggressive dogs onto the course.  Dogs who are aggressive in this way are very stressed in the presence of other dogs and a class situation is likely to make them even more stressed and their behaviour will become worse.  A behaviour consultation would be much more appropriate for your dog.

How much does the course cost?

The six week course costs £90 and this includes a training manual and a clicker
