Classes - Intermediate/Advanced |

Intermediate & Advanced: Once you have completed a Beginners Foundation Course you can move onto our intermediate and advanced course. Here you will build on the lessons learned previously to take your training to a higher standard.
What is covered as part of this course? This course is an extension of the foundation training started in the beginners class. Each course varies in its content because it reflects the abilities and aims of those attending, but an underlying theme of each course is getting the dogs to work harder to earn rewards and getting them to become more reliable in the face of distractions. Some of the specific exercises that we cover include:
My dog has already attended a basic class elsewhere, can we miss out your beginners course and start with the intermediate class? No, our intermediate course builds specifically on the lessons learned during our beginners course. Although you may have completed some training with your dog, all trainers have different methods and we need to know that all those entering the intermediate class have the same level of understanding (even if the dogs are at a different standard). Therefore we do insist that everyone has completed one of our beginners courses first.
We have already attended an intermediate course, what is the next step? Each intermediate course is different and many people repeat the course at a more advanced level. Often people keep repeating the course until they feel their dog is trained to the level they desire, other people just keep repeating the course because they simply enjoy spending time training their dog. From time to time we run specialist courses (e.g. our tricks and training skills course) designed to give those with experience something totally new to work on.
I attended one of your beginners classes some time ago and we really need to refresh our dog's training, is this class suitable? Maybe, if your dog is still responding well to you and you feel confident with the lessons you learned in the beginners class. If not, then many people repeat a beginners course just to improve on the basics (we understand how training can slip, particularly during the adolescent phase!). You can always contact us to discuss this further.
Since attending one of your beginners courses my dog has become aggressive to other dogs, is the intermediate class suitable? No, for the sake of your own dog and all the other dogs in the class, we cannot accept aggressive dogs onto the course. Dogs who are aggressive in this way are very stressed in the presence of other dogs and a class situation is likely to make them even more stressed and their behaviour will become worse. A behaviour consultation would be much more appropriate for your dog.
Who can come? As with all of our classes all members of the family, including children, are welcome to attend and take part in your dog's training
How much does the course cost? The six week course costs £90
